Thallus forming orbicular, loosely attached, flat rosettes to 5 cm wide. Lobes shallowly convex to flat, 0.5–2(–2.5) mm wide, discrete to imbricate-congested, often incised, with slightly thickened, ±delicately pubescent or pruinose margins, becoming granular-sorediate. Upper surface shallowly areolate-scabrid, olivaceous, rarely grey-blue, tawny ochre-brown when dry; soredia coarsely granular, ±superficial, marginal or often spreading to upper surface, bluish white. Lower surface uniformly cobwebby-tomentose with occasional bundles of longer rhizohyphae near margins, whitish at margins, pale buff to ochre-brown centrally. Apothecia (not seen in Australian material) rather rare, 0.1–1.2 mm wide, sessile; disc concave becoming flat, matt, pale orange-brown; proper exciple persistent, slightly raised above disc and paler when dry. Ascospores 10–16 × 5–7 µm, with apiculae 18–22 µm long. | ||
