| Thallus forming orbicular, loosely attached, flat rosettes to 5 cm wide. Lobes shallowly convex to flat, 0.5–2(–2.5) mm wide, discrete to imbricate-congested, often incised, with slightly thickened, ±delicately pubescent or pruinose margins, becoming granular-sorediate. Upper surface shallowly areolate-scabrid, olivaceous, rarely grey-blue, tawny ochre-brown when dry; soredia coarsely granular, ±superficial, marginal or often spreading to upper surface, bluish white. Lower surface uniformly cobwebby-tomentose with occasional bundles of longer rhizohyphae near margins, whitish at margins, pale buff to ochre-brown centrally. Apothecia (not seen in Australian material) rather rare, 0.1–1.2 mm wide, sessile; disc concave becoming flat, matt, pale orange-brown; proper exciple persistent, slightly raised above disc and paler when dry. Ascospores 10–16 × 5–7 µm, with apiculae 18–22 µm long. | ||
| Occurs in areas of high rainfall in the Gloucester Tops and Barrington Tops, N.S.W., and in Tas., restricted to bark of trees in rainforest and shrubs (especially Leptospermum)., where it is rare; also in New Zealand. | ||
